Personalized support for you
I help women reduce their back pain with my yoga therapy-based personalized RADAR Method™ so they can be active and enjoy life without limitation
If you’re dealing with ongoing back pain, poor sleep, or fatigue related to scoliosis, you may be feeling frustrated, discouraged, or unsure what actually helps.
You may have tried different approaches and found some relief—but not something that feels consistent or sustainable.
This program is designed by me, a person with scoliosis, to help you better understand your body and learn how to manage your pain in a more steady, supported way. It includes research- supported practices shown to reduce lower back pain, strengthen your spine, improve posture and reduce the risk of falls. If you want to feel more confident in your movements and more fully embodied, with less pain and greater capacity, then click the button below and let’s have a conversation about your situation.
To find out if this program is right for you, the first step is to book a Breakthrough Call with me to discuss your situation. On this complimentary call, we’ll go over your current situation, challenges and what you would like to be experiencing instead. Then together we clarify your aims and goals which will determine whether the program is a good fit for you at the moment.

If you’re dealing with back pain…
You’ve tried different exercises but aren’t sure what’s right for your body
You’re worried about making your pain worse
You feel tension, tightness or fatigue in your body throughout the day
You don’t fully understand what’s happening in your body
You feel limited in your daily life or activities
Does this sound like you?
“I need this pain to stop or at least calm down”
“I can’t keep living like this”
“I don’t know what’s safe to do anymore”
Then this program is for you. We examine all of these in a thorough way so that you receive the benefits, education and positive changes that last.

What you’ll achieve by the end of the program:
- Significantly reduced back pain, feel better in your body and stop thinking of pain all day
- Increase core and back strength and stability so that you can do your daily movement routine and any other activity or exercise without fear of causing a flare-up
- Get deep, uninterrupted and comfortable sleep – without the need for relaxants – so you can feel happier, rested and energized even while travelling
- Feel confident in yourself, be able to handle stress without creating tension in your body, and if there is tension, you’ll know what to do about it
- Fully participate in social events and work so you can enjoy quality time with family and friends and be of service to others without worrying about limitations
- Be in tune with your body and aligned, break the pattern of tightness, achiness, pain and exhaustion so you have long-term relief
What this program can support
This work is not about forcing change or pushing through pain.
Instead, we focus on helping you:
- reduce unnecessary strain in your body
- improve how your spine is supported in movement
- build strength where it’s needed
- release patterns that contribute to discomfort
- feel more confident in what is safe and helpful for you
.
Over time, you may notice that your pain feels more manageable, your body feels more supported, and you have a clearer sense of what helps and what doesn’t. This could look like:
- less frequent or less intense pain
- better sleep
- more energy
- increased confidence in movement
- a greater sense of ease in your body
If this appeals to you, book your Breakthrough Call at the button below. This is a complimentary session to invite clarity and determine whether the program is right for you at this time.
How it works
This RADAR method is a proprietary holistic method addressing body, mind and spirit. We address both the obvious and the hidden contributing factors of your pain in order to remove them.
This approach is rooted in yoga therapy and is trauma informed. It includes self-compassion, acceptance and self expression.
Yoga therapy doesn’t treat the person as broken. The practices support us in seeing more clearly the obstacles we face (inner and outer) and building the capacity to change our circumstances in order to better support the person we choose to be.
I use my proprietary RADAR Method to reduce your pain by:
REST
Stop the tension, stiffness, tightness and nerve pain radiation especially during the night so you can sleep.
- The tension and tightness limit your mobility and increase back pain when sitting, standing or sleeping.
- This is caused by an inability of and/or the lack of opportunity for the body to relax, which leads to more tension and pain.
- By using my yoga therapy, meditation and energy healing techniques we can re-educate your body to release tension and prevent the tightness from building up.
- This allows your body to be relaxed during the day, and to sleep deeply at night.
AWARENESS
Understanding your situation more clearly from the inside and outside. How to get a clear assessment or diagnosis and exploring your lived experience through a self-compassionate lens.
- Without this key information, you could be doing movements that will increase your discomfort and pain.
- I will help you learn about your own unique anatomy and its effects using Ayurvedic principles, acupressure and yoga therapy.
- This will decrease your fear and nervousness and as your understanding of your body shifts, so will your self-confidence.
- You will have a better sense of what is happening with your body on all levels and know what you need to give yourself or ask for help with, at any given time.
- This will also improve your communication with everyone you live with, work with or consult with about your health, which leads to better results over the long term
DIGEST
Decrease the buildup of tension related to stress and emotions held in the body.
- Undigested emotions and stress often build up in the neck and shoulders, just as undigested food causes a feeling of heaviness and can build up as excess weight.
- I will show you breathing practices that balance the nervous system, emotional processing tools and conscious eating habits so that any buildup on any level can be integrated.
- You’ll be able to redirect negative thoughts, anxiety, judgments and pressure on yourself towards forgiveness and self-compassion.
- This leaves you feeling lighter, happier and much more energized.
ACTIVITY
I will show you what to do to improve your movement and stop aggravating the back pain.
- Unconscious habit patterns and structural imbalances like scoliosis can create strain in the body that leads to pain.
- Using my yoga therapy techniques and mindful practices both on and off the mat, we can re-educate your systems to be more balanced and to move more evenly. You will know how to adapt any movement practice to your unique body and release the fear of worsening your situation.
- This leaves you free to enjoy walking, dancing, yoga, gardening and any other activity or exercise you undertake.
REJOICE
How to enjoy a better quality of life on your own terms.
- Chronic pain is contracting and it can be tiring and isolating.
- This struggle can lead to frustration, sadness and sometimes embarrassment which creates more tension and tightness.
- With my meditation practices and holistic approach to life coaching that includes play, you can cultivate a more peaceful mind and greater self-acceptance.
- Your life will open up instead of shrink and you’ll feel less limited, more spontaneous, more creative and happy to be alive.
- You deserve to have fun and fully self-express. Creativity is essential for our well-being.

About Kathryn
My Scoliosis Story
Chiropractor: You’ve got scoliosis.
Me: What’s that?
Chiropractor: It’s a curvature of the spine.
Me: Huh?
Chiropractor: It’s quite common. Don’t worry, yours is quite small.
Me: Huh?
This is how, in 1989 at 18 years of age, I found out I
had scoliosis. I visited a chiropractor after hurting my
neck in a trampoline accident. After the treatment, my
neck felt better, but I was very confused about this
scoliosis. What was it exactly? Could it explain my
chronic lower back pain? Soon afterwards, I discovered
hatha yoga classes, and while I found the teacher’s
philosophical leanings odd, I enjoyed the stretching and
especially the relaxation at the end. During university,
with all the intellectual stimulation and new people I was
meeting, I forgot about yoga and rarely exercised except
for riding my bike and some water aerobics in the pool
for stress relief during exams. Upon graduation, I
travelled and worked abroad for nearly four years and
certainly gave my body a few challenges. Fortunately, I
wound up working down the road from an Ashtanga
Vinyasa (Ashtanga means eight-limbed and Vinyasa means Flow) yoga studio in Sydney,
Australia, and it became my home away from home. Improved posture, core strength,
confidence, new friends, encouragement from a wise teacher and learning to breathe all
increased my energy levels and lifted my dark moods. My pain became much more
manageable as did my desk job. Visiting chiropractors and massage therapists also helped
a great deal.
Returning to Toronto in 1999, I found another desk job, another chiropractor and
wonderful massage therapists. The company I worked for had lunchtime yoga classes and I
took advantage of them twice a week. The more I practiced, the more I learned to listen to
my body and take care of it. Lifestyle and dietary changes soon followed, and I became a
regular student when a new yoga studio opened across the street. It was around this time
that I found the work of veteran Iyengar teacher Elise Browning Miller online and a basic
sequence for scoliosis — at last — designed for people like me! It felt great. I experimented
with attending Iyengar classes and explored other styles at my local studio where I became
a teaching assistant and thoroughly hooked. I had never felt so strong, in both body and
mind, and was very aware that I hadn’t known how to breathe fully or stand tall before
then. Soon it was time to deepen my practice and I enrolled in a six-month, 350-hour yoga
teacher training program. Little did I know the transformation that would occur during this
Introduction to the Eight Limbs of Yoga. I haven’t looked back. Yoga is my go-to, my salve,
my quiet and peaceful inner time.
In October 2009, Elise Miller conducted a twenty hour long Yoga for Scoliosis workshop in
Toronto and I jumped at the chance to work with her. Afterwards, I conducted two fourmonth case studies working intensively with two individuals whose scoliosis patterns
differed from mine. I also completed a written assignment and submitted these materials to
Elise. Now I am certified by her as a Yoga for Scoliosis specialist. Since then I have
repeated the first ten hours of this workshop training four times and am now in my third
year of teaching yoga for scoliosis to others. With careful attention to my body during
practice, and liberal amounts of massage and self-care, I have a vastly improved quality of
life and body experience. It is a lifelong journey and continual process of learning. Every
day I am grateful for the tools and the teachings. It is my joy to share what I’ve learned
with others so that they, too, may benefit.

Testimonials
I’ve learned more in these two sessions than I have from all the other people I’ve seen in the past several years. I’m very happy.
-C. Smith
Thank you Kathryn. I like the length of time you used to enable us to realise what’s actually going on. Love the thought of working on relaxation and stress and learn our scoliosis. it’s been really helpful…as you say, an inner learning practice.
-D. Hill
Kathryn, your personality as a teacher is open, humorous, a little self-deprecating and I appreciate that. You hold the energy of the room (with more than 50 people, even!) with a quiet but such stable and calm presence-it makes such a difference to the practice space, no matter where, no matter the conditions.
S. McFerran
I’ve been continuing using the skills and techniques you taught me and I have really noticed an improvement in my back. I feel stronger, and have had very little back pain.
And when I do feel pain I am able to use the yoga positions accordingly. 🙂
-Morgan M.
Yoga classes with Kat have improved the quality of my life. Her yoga poses have increased my flexibility and core strength and reduced my back pain. My breathing patterns and my sleeping behaviour have both improved.

FAQ
Do I need prior yoga experience?
you do not need prior yoga experience, simply an open mind and willingness to explore.
What if I have other back issues besides scoliosis?
This is often the case. Kathryn is trained to support other challenges and we can discuss these further. The program uses a trauma sensitive approach that is gentle and honors your pacing and wisdom. There is no forcing or straining.
What if I have chronic pain?
This course is designed for people with chronic or persistent pain. Various ways of doing the movements are shown, there is a progressive system of learning, you can go at your own pace and lessons are designed for integration into your everyday life right from the start. One step at a time.
What if I can’t get on the floor easily?
Most if not all of the practices can be adapted for sitting or using a chair or the wall as a prop. if you can get up and down from the floor using an assist like a chair, you will be able to do everything. Some things we even do in bed!
What if I have a spinal fusion?
These practices will be customized to your situation. Everything in the program can be used by a person with a fusion to great advantage.
How much time will this take each week?
2-3 hours each week depending on how much time you devote to your home practice and whether you are in the VIP group with private sessions.
Will the sessions be recorded?
Yes and they are yours to keep.
COMMON CONCERNS
“I’m afraid of making things worse”. This is a common fear. The program supports you by moving slowly, providing options to choose from, and support.
“I’ve tried other things before”. Exploring your options is a wise thing to do. Check in and see if something is calling you to this particular program.
“I don’t have time”. Decide for yourself how much time per week and per day you DO have to devote to self care. Then note how much time is taken up by health appointments, not doing things because of pain or low energy or lack of sleep and see how much time could be freed up if you didn’t have so many of those challenges. Would that be worth investing your time?
“I don’t have the money”. Special pricing is available for the first three people. If you would like to discuss a payment plan, contact me for details.
