Castor oil packs

This is an easy thing to do for yourself at home with wonderful results. I was initially put off because of the messiness of oil but once I got over that, I became a big fan. Castor oil packs are often recommended for anyone who experiences constipation, is on a detox program or has fibroids. You set yourself up and relax for 20 minutes. It’s quite soothing and gently clears out the intestines. If you put it on your liver it supports the liver doing its detoxification job too.

What you will need:

a strip of organic cotton linen the width of your abdomen ( I found some at a fabric supply store)
castor oil
2 hand towels or facecloths and one larger towel you don’t mind ruining with oil
heating pad or hot water bottle
timer
biodegradable plastic bag

I set myself up on a bolster with a pillow or folded blanket. The larger towel goes underneath me to protect the bolster from oil. The two small towels are tucked into my clothing to protect them from oil as well- one goes into the pants and one into the shirt. My shirt is lifted up to expose my belly. Then I put some castor oil on the cotton strip (just a thin line or two of oil is enough) and place the strip over my lower belly, oily side down. I put the biodegradable plastic bag on top of the cotton and then the heating pad. Set the timer for 20 minutes and meditate. This is fairly easy and effective DIY self-care. If you try it let me know what you observe. Tip: be sure to be well hydrated the day you do the castor oil pack and the day after. You may notice signs of increased elimination after doing a castor oil pack.
